Getting Started with DealHits

What is DealHits?

  1. DealHits (www.dealhits.net) is the location-based social mobile shopping application for shoppers, restaurants and retailers to engage and interact directly to enrich shopping experience.
  2. DealHits is not a deal site but a social mobile platform that enables shoppers and retailers to monetize the benefits of social media thru direct shoppers and retailers engagement without middle persons intervention.
  3. DealHits mobile and web applications are developed to make it easier for shoppers to achieve personal needs that are important in everyday shopping lifestyles. DealHits is also designed for shoppers to build and uplift their shopping experience.
  4. DealHits ultimate objective is for shoppers to gain higher purchasing value when they shop, and enable retailers to uplift sales at targeted nearby locations leveraging on the benefits of social, mobile and analytics.
  5. DealHits is free, fun and easy to use. It enables shoppers to create, share, and exchange restaurants and retail stores deals, promotions and reviews with families and friends while shoppers are on the move.
  6. DealHits allows shoppers to reach out to restaurants or retailers directly to shape favourite deals and stretch shopping dollars. Shoppers can also engage restaurants and retailers in the community to voice suggestions to improve their products and services, and personalise shopping experience.
  7. DealHits shoppers are recognised for sharing cool places, deals and reviews with friends, families and DealHits community.

How do I sign up for DealHits?

You can sign up DealHits either with an existing Facebook account or Sign Up DealHits local account with the following steps:
  1. Launch your DealHits app
  2. Tap on Sign Up link (under the log in screen)
  3. Fill in the necessary fields
  4. Pick and confirm a password that you'll remember
  5. Tap on Sign Up button
Once you've signed up, you'll need to confirm and validate your email account. We'll send you an email for confirmation. You can start using DealHits app by logging in with your created account. If you have not received DealHits confirmation email within 15 minutes:
  1. Check your junk mail folder or spam filter
  2. Make sure your email address is entered correctly

How do I complete the sign-up process and confirm my email address?

In order to complete the sign-up process, you need to confirm that you own the email address you used to set up the account. This way, we know we're sending your confirmation email to the right email address. To confirm your email address, click on the link in DealHits confirmation email that we'll send to you upon completing the sign-up process.

Do I need to create a new DealHits account on mobile if I already have a DealHits account on my computer or another phone?

No. DealHits login access is based on the unique email address provided by the user or Facebook during the sign-up process. You can use the same login email address to access your account from your mobile phone and vice versa.

Does using DealHits on my phone cost money?

You are not billed or charged for using DealHits on your phone. However, since you'll need data or internet for using DealHits, your normal data rates may still apply if you don't have a data plan. Check with your mobile service provider for more information on data charges.

What's the difference between logging in and signing up?

Sign Up
If you don't have a DealHits account, you can sign up for one in a few easy steps. To sign up a new account, enter your first and last name, gender, email address, and country requested in the form and pick a password that you'll remember.

Log In
If you already have a DealHits account, you can log into your account from the same screen. Just enter your email address and password into the field according and click on Log In.

I can't log in.

If you're having trouble logging into the DealHits app:
  • Try resetting your password
  • Delete the app, then reinstall it
  • Try logging in from a mobile web browser (eg: Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Windows Internet) at www.dealhits.net

I can't login to DealHits after signing up a new account.

It is possible that your account has not been activated yet. To activate your account, please follow the following steps:
  1. Open ONLY the latest email sent by michelle@dealhits.net if you’ve requested for multiple “Resend Activation Email”. (If you can’t find the activation email in your inbox, try checking it in your junk email)
  2. Click on “Confirm my account” in the email link provided.
  3. You’ll be directed to www.dealhits.net web page upon successful email validation and account confirmation immediately.
  4. You can now login to DealHits native or web application using your registered email and password.

Note: Send an email to dealhits@sinyoong.com should you require further assistance with your login.

How do I log out of DealHits?

To log out of DealHits:
  1. Tap on the Menu button
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Log out

If you think your account is hacked:
  1. Try to reset your password
  2. If you can't, please send an email to the DealHits Customer Service Centre at dealhits@sinyoong.com with the title "My account has been hacked".

How do I reset my password?

If you've forgotten your password:
  1. Fill in your email address in the Email field at the login screen
  2. Tap on the "Forgot password" link
  3. You will receive an email from DealHits for further instructions to change your password
If you have not received the Password reset email in 15 minutes:
  1. Check your junk mail folder or spam filter
  2. Make sure your email address is entered correctly
  3. Try resetting your password once again by following the step above

What is the minimum password strength and how can I make my password strong?

  • When you create a new password, make sure that it's at least 8 alphanumeric (a-z, A-Z, 0-9) characters long
  • Try to use a complex combination of numbers and letters
  • To make your password strong, try mixing together with uppercase and lowercase letters or making the password longer
  • The password you create should be easy for you to remember but hard for someone else to figure out
  • For extra security, use a different password than other passwords that you use to log in to other places, like your email or bank account

How do I change the password for my DealHits login when I'm already logged in?

Anyone with access to your email account can request a new password for your DealHits account. To change your login password when you are already logged in:
  1. Tap on the Menu button
  2. Tap on your profile photo and name
  3. Tap on the Edit (Pencil icon) button
  4. Fill in your new password with a minimum of 8 characters
  5. Fill in the same new password you've entered to confirm your password
  6. Tap on Submit button

How do I merge my existing DealHits account with Facebook account?

If you had created an account in DealHits without Login with Facebook before, you will need to merge your existing DealHits account with your Facebook account, in order to be able to Login with Facebook to that existing account. To merge your existing DealHits account with your Facebook account:
  1. Make sure your existing DealHits account's email address is exactly the same with your Facebook account's primary email address.
  2. Tap on "Login with Facebook" in the login screen in DealHits app
  3. Tap on "Confirm" when you are prompted with an alert such as "The Facebook account will merge with your John/Jane DealHits account"
  4. Fill in your DealHits account's password when you are prompted with "Enter your DealHits password to confirm".
  5. Tap on "OK"

Note: Always make sure that your existing DealHits account's email address is exactly the same with your Facebook account's primary email address. You can't merge your Facebook account with the existing DealHits account if your DealHits account email address is different with your Facebook account primary address.

Building My Shopping Network

How do I add a friend who is already a member of DealHits?

Add a friend from DealHits:
  1. Tap the Menu button
  2. Tap 'Friends'
  3. Tap 'Find' button on the top right
  4. Type your friend's name, email, or mobile number in the search bar
  5. Tap 'Search'
  6. Select your friends by tapping on the checkbox (put a check on the checkbox) next to their name.
  7. Tap 'Add' button on the top right

If your friend is not found, there is a high possibility that your friend is still not yet a member of DealHits. Please invite your friends through your email contact list.

How do I add friends from other social media?

Add a friend from Facebook/ Twitter/ LinkedIn/ Contacts:
  1. Tap the Menu button
  2. Tap 'Friends'
  3. Tap 'Find' button on the top right
  4. Tap 'Invite Friends'
  5. Select any media for contacts (Facebook/ Twitter/ LinkedIn/ Contacts)
  6. If necessary, enter your social media logins to log in.
  7. Select your friends by tapping on the checkbox (put a check on the checkbox) next to their name.
  8. Tap 'Add' button on the top right
Note:
  • You can select all your friends by tapping on the universal checkbox located on the top right corner.
  • We do not hold or keep any information from your social media logins.
  • Loading of contacts could take a while depending on the size of your contact list.

Who should I send friend requests to?

You should send friend requests to people you have a real-life connection to, like your friends, family, coworkers or classmates.

How do I unfriend or remove a friend?

To unfriend/delete someone:
  1. Tap the Menu button
  2. Tap 'Friends'
  3. Tap on the person's name or the empty space next to the name
  4. Tap 'Delete'

Note: If you choose to unfriend someone, you will be removed from that person's friends list as well. If you want to be friends with this person again, you'll need to send a new friend request.

If I delete a friend request, will the sender find out?

Yes. The friend request will be removed from your list of friends to confirm. However, the sender won't be notified directly regarding the deletion of friend request.

Places and Deals

How do I share place of interest with my friends?

To share place of interest in Facebook/ Twitter/ LinkedIn:
  1. Tap on the place to go into 'Place Details'
  2. Tap on the <share> 'Share' button
  3. Select an option (Facebook/ Twitter/ LinkedIn) that you intended to share to
  4. Tap 'Post' or 'Send'
To share place of interest with friends in DealHits:
  1. Tap on the place to go into 'Place Details'
  2. Tap on the <share> 'Share' button
  3. Select 'Friends' from the options
  4. Select your friends by tapping on the checkbox (put a check on the checkbox) next to their name.
  5. Tap 'Share'

How do I check into a nearby place on my phone?

To check into a nearby place:
  1. Tap on the nearby place to go into 'Place Details'
  2. Tap on the <checkin> 'Check In' button
  3. Tap 'OK' to confirm the check-in

Note: You can only check in to the same place after at least an hour of the last check-in.

How do I find places/deals nearby?

With your location services turned on, the app will automatically search for the nearby place within the radius in Places/Deals. To search for a place/deals specifically:
  1. Tap on the 'Menu' button
  2. Select 'Search'
  3. Type the location's name in the search bar
  4. Tap 'Search'

Note: If the place does not exist in the list, you may add new place by tapping on 'Add New Place'

What kind of places can I add?

Add places to DealHits that others would also want to check in to such as retail stores and restaurants. Places that are okay to add: a new restaurant, a park, or a shoe store.

We don't want dummy or spam places. Please do not add things like: your car, your stapler, your toilet, "Stuck in Traffic," "On a Plane," your girlfriend's cousin's kitchen, etc. We do not want any vulgar/offensive venues, either.

How do I rate and review places or deals?

You can review a place or deal by posting comments. You can rate a place or deals simultaneously with Like and/or Value for Money. In the comments (Place details > Comments or Deal Details > Comments), you'll find option of Like and Value for Money. You may select either "Like" or "Value for Money" or both.

Like
When you like a place or deal, you can select "Like" option along with your comments to let others know that the place or deal is worth to check it out. Points will be awarded for each Like recommended.

Value for Money
Everyone has their own justification of Value for Money. Select this option along with your comments, if you think that the place or deal is worth recommended for people in terms of Value for Money. It does not have to be a cheap menu to be Value for Money. We, sometimes, like to think that a restaurant is Value for Money when they serve delicious food, with good service and the price are not too steep for the occasion. Points will be awarded for each Value for Money recommended.

Comments
Majority of DealHits users rely on other users valuable reviews and comments of a place or a deal to help them to make good shopping decision. Therefore, it is important that you provide valuable reviews and comments for a place or a deal for other users to read and make reference to enrich their shopping experience. Points will be awarded for each comment posted by you.

Note: Any sensitive words detected will be rejected.

How do I receive push notifications on my smartphone about my friends activities?

If you have push notifications turned on for the DealHits app, you’ll receive a push notification about your friends activities To turn push notifications on or off, take the following steps in your smartphone app:
  1. Tap on the 'Menu' button
  2. Select 'Settings'
  3. Choose whether to turn push notifications on or off.
  4. Tap 'Save'

How can I earn points?

You are recognised for each of the activities performed by you on DealHits to enrich DealHits community shopping experience. At the moment, DealHits will award a minimum of 1 basis point for each of the following activity:
  • Invite friends to join DealHits
  • Post Comment for Places or Deals
  • Check In Places or Deals
  • Share Places or Deals

DealHits are currently working on an attractive recognition and reward program that will leverage on the accumulated points earned by DealHits community. The program shall be announced in the second half of 2014. Meanwhile, we would appreciate any feedback from you on how we can structure a recognition and reward program that could bring the best possible value to the accumulated points earned by you and DealHits community.

Privacy

What personal information am I sharing?

You can always change your privacy settings under 'Share Personal Information' in DealHits app Settings.

Basic: If you chose to share only Basic personal information, you'll only be sharing your name and profile photo to the public. This option will be defaulted upon every new sign up.
Full: If you chose to share Full personal information, you'll share your name, profile photo, contact number, and email address.

What can everyone see?

You can always change your privacy settings for your historical activities (check-in and comments) under 'Share History' in DealHits app Settings.

Public: You will be sharing your historical activities to anyone on DealHits app. This option will be defaulted upon every new sign up.
Friends: You will limit your historical activities to only your friends in DealHits.
Private: No one can view your historical activities besides yourself.

Report Abuse

How do I report inappropriate or abusive things on DealHits (ex: pornography, hate speech, threats)?

Report a comment:
  1. Go to the comment
  2. Tap on the 'Flag' button below the comment you'd like to report
  3. Choose the option that best describes the issue and tap 'OK'

Note: By reporting/flagging a comment, the administrator will be notified immediately and the administrator will review the comment and perform any necessary action against the user reported.

How do I grant permission for DealHits to use my Facebook account in iOS?

To grant or turn on permission for DealHits to use your Facebook account in iOS:
  1. Go to iOS 'Settings'
  2. Tap on 'Privacy'
  3. Tap on 'Facebook'
  4. Set 'DealHits' permission to 'On'

Note: You must login to your Facebook account before you are able to set the permission for DealHits in iOS.
